How to put an on-line photo into your blog post

•    these notes describe how to link to a Flickr photo; the procedure for other sources will be similar

•    depending on how you access the photo, you may find yourself starting from point 1, 2 or 3

•    points 7, 8, 9 may differ slightly from one blog platform to another, but the general procedure will be the same

•    for on-line images from other places, start at 6.2 - although you may also find elements of 1-5, and/or 6.1

In Flickr

1)    click on the link to the photo set you want to look at

2)    choose a photo from the set, click on the thumbnail

3)    at the individual photo page, look immediately above the photo and click on All Sizes

4)    click on Small

5)    do not download the photo - instead:

If you are a Flickr member

6.1)

a)    go further down to To link to this photo

b)    Copy the code in 2: Grab the photo's URL (double click in the text box to select the code, then Ctrl-c to Copy in Windows, or Cmnd-c on a Mac)

If you are not a Flickr member

6.2)

a)    right-click on the photo (Ctrl-click on Mac)

b)    (Mac) select Copy image address

(Windows) Properties > select and Copy the Image URL (see 6.1b above)

In your blog

7)    start a New Entry

8)    click in the text box, then click on the Image icon (usually green tree/mountain) in the toolbar

9)    in most platforms you are offered an option to Include an image from an external website (or similar - maybe: Image URL): Paste the code you have Copied (Ctrl-v in Windows, Cmnd-v in Mac)

10)    write your post below your picture

11)    don't forget to Save!
